Today is Groundhog Day: February 2, 2026, a tradition rooted in folklore and observation. Each year, we pause to see whether the groundhog senses more winter ahead or the promise of early spring. While it’s lighthearted on the surface, the tradition itself is about something deeper: paying attention, noticing patterns, and allowing nature to signal when it’s time to wait… or when it’s time to move forward. And if you don't already know, Punxsutawney Phil saw
his shadow, which according to tradition means there will be six more weeks of winter.
Hold onto your heavy winter coats, gloves, scarves, and hats; it might be a while before we warm up!
And perhaps that’s why Groundhog Day feels especially fitting in the college planning world.
February is often a moment of repetition for students and families—waiting for decisions, revisiting questions, circling back to uncertainty. It can feel like living the same day over and over: Am I on the right path? What comes next? Groundhog Day reminds us that pauses are not setbacks. They’re opportunities to reflect before the season changes.
At Williams Educational Consultants, February is intentionally about that pause. Before rushing into decisions, we focus on understanding who a client truly is. Through tools like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI), we help clients gain language for how they think, learn, communicate, and make decisions. When clients understand themselves, they stop repeating patterns driven by pressure—and begin making choices rooted in clarity and confidence.
That’s the heart of the WEC Newsletter where I offer insights into college planning, personality, and intentional decision-making—guiding clients and families to progress with confidence rather than fear. If February seems like a time to pause, reflect, and realign, I invite you to join us. Check out our FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER and share it with your friends.
