A name is more than letters or symbols. A name represents power, opportunity and much more. A college name is influential in a student’s college search. Some students hear a name and quickly make a decision to add or delete a school from their college list.
Recently North Georgia College and State University was approved for a new name, University of North Georgia. One of the oldest colleges in Georgia, the first to accept women applicants, and a military college, North Georgia has been an exceptional choice for hungry, intellectual minds for over 130 years. What does the new name mean for students? It gives students more opportunity, flexibility in location and a larger community, especially since Gainesville State College has consolidated with North Georgia. University of North Georgia now houses campuses in Dahlonega, Gainesville, Cumming and Oconee.
