The day is among us — October 15!

Students who have considered and decided to apply Early Action to some schools have been aware of this day since August 1 (if not before).
I am so proud of all my students who completed this task with determination and hard work. Although the majority of my clients have been successful in hitting “submit,” I know that there are still students waiting until midnight.
And though I am sure it holds some frustration for all involved, I often think about why this happens. As an MBTI Certified Practitioner, I usually return to the framework of the 16 personality types to help explain why students respond so differently under pressure.
So, what are the “Types” that are most likely to procrastinate?
Stress impacts us all differently. It is essential not to follow someone else’s footsteps in your process — your footsteps are the ones that matter the most and will help you reach the finish line, always.
We all know that admissions can be a huge stress trigger. Personality Type helps us understand our reactions and why certain things cause us stress. Therefore, you may be more inclined to processes that adapt and evolve with a perceiving personality — you often need to “see the whole picture” before taking action.
P-types, such as ENFPs or INTPs, may gather ideas right up until the final hour, refining details as inspiration strikes. Their creativity fuels them, but structure can sometimes feel restrictive.
On the other hand, J-types, such as ESTJs or ISFJs, usually prefer timelines, to-do lists, and early completion — they feel at peace when a plan is in place.
Both approaches have strengths: one thrives on flexibility and the rush of a deadline, the other on order and closure. The key is knowing who you are and building systems that honor your personality. Whether you hit “submit” at 10 p.m. or two weeks ago, your process is your own — and that’s what matters most.
Every student’s journey looks different. Take a moment to celebrate your progress, learn from your process, and prepare for what’s next (especially those with November 1st deadlines). And if you’d like expert guidance rooted in both strategy and self-understanding, connect with Williams Educational Consultants to personalize your next step forward.
