Williams Educational Consultants received an article from Inside Higher Ed about College Board which I found insightful for all students going through the college admissions process. As an Educational Consultant, I notice that most students struggle with standardized testing. One of the silver linings of COVID is that universities around the nation are looking at their requirements in the admissions process and eliminating the SAT/ACT. CollegeBoard will not be shutting its doors any time soon, if ever! Yet, I believe that the influx of schools that have decided on test-optional will only increase. To read the article, click here.
Additionally, over the weekend, I spent time learning about FASFA updates. I am sharing a great informational video by Lynn O'Shaughnessy. In her email, she said, "The aim of the legislation was to simplify the FAFSA and it will for many families, but it will make it more complicated for many others." Families impacted due to the changes are parents that are separated/divorced, households with two or more students attending college simultaneously, and families with grandparents who try to help with the cost of college. Additionally, the term "EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) is now SAI (Student Aid Index)" Here is a great Q & A for the new Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021
