WEC NEWSLETTER • OCTOBER 2026
October is one of the busiest months in college admissions.
For seniors, Early Action deadlines are arriving quickly, and submitting the application is only part of the process. Families also need to be watching transcripts, recommendations, test scores, applicant portals, FAFSA, the CSS Profile, scholarships, and college-specific financial aid requirements. For younger students, October is also a great time to start looking ahead. Juniors can begin building testing and college research plans, sophomores can explore possible majors and careers, and freshmen can focus on developing strong habits and discovering where their interests may lead.
In this month’s Williams Educational Consultants newsletter, I am highlighting:
Important reminders for October 15 and November 1 application deadlines
What students should do after they hit “Submit”
FAFSA and CSS Profile next steps
Scholarship ideas and where families should begin looking
October priorities for the Classes of 2028, 2029, and 2030
This month’s Ask Wendy question: “I submitted my application. Am I done?”
My biggest reminder this month is simple: Submitted does not always mean complete.
Always check the college applicant portal, pay attention to deadlines, and give yourself enough time to correct anything that may be missing.
