Sharing AP & IB Scores

ree

Students have two options when it comes to reporting AP or IB exam scores on the Common Application. You can self-report your scores directly on the application, or have the official testing agency send them (College Board for AP, International Baccalaureate for IB).

For most students, it’s a good idea to report AP scores of 3 or higher, as these generally reflect strong college-level work. With IB, scores are also considered impressive — especially higher-level exam scores of 5, 6, or 7 — since they demonstrate both rigor and mastery in challenging subjects.

If you have lower scores, you can hold off on sending them in as part of your application. The key is to share the scores that strengthen your application, knowing colleges will see the official results if you enroll. Even if you’ve already submitted your applications, you can still send your scores through the official testing agencies.

Williams Educational Consultants is bringing helpful tips to all families ahead of the October 15th deadline! Over the next week, we’ll send reminders about recommendations, STARS, essays, application fees, print-previewing applications, and much more.
