Auburn’s September 15 Deadline

Is Your Application Truly Complete?

Every year, I see confusion surrounding Auburn University’s application deadlines. Students hear several different dates and are often unsure which deadline applies to them or whether submitting the application is enough to meet that deadline.

Auburn reviews applications in several rounds:

• Early Action Round 1: September 15

• Early Action Round 2: October 15

• Early Action Round 3: November 15

• Final Early Action Round: December 1

• Regular Decision: February 1

These options give students more than one opportunity to apply. However, if you want to be reviewed during the first Early Action round 1, Auburn must receive your complete application file by September 15. (If you are hoping for Round 2, then all documents must be received by 10/15, and so on.) With only 11 days remaining, now is the time to stop focusing only on the application itself and begin confirming that every required item has reached Auburn.

Submitting Your Application Is Not the Final Step

One of the most common misunderstandings I see in college admissions is the belief that clicking “Submit” means the entire application is complete.

It does not.

Your application may depend on information coming from several different places. You submit the application, your school may assist with the transcript, and the ACT or College Board must send your official test scores.

Auburn must receive all required pieces by September 15 for your application to be considered in the first Early Action round.

What Auburn Must Receive

Your complete Auburn application file should include:

• Your submitted admission application

• The application fee or an approved fee waiver

• Your high school transcript

• Official ACT or SAT scores sent directly from the testing agency

Auburn’s testing codes are:

• ACT: 0011

• SAT: 1005

Do not wait until September 15 to order your scores. Sending a score request on the deadline does not necessarily mean Auburn will receive it that day.

Talk to Your School Counselor Now

If your school counselor is responsible for submitting or helping you obtain your transcript, make sure your counselor knows you are working toward Auburn’s September 15 deadline.

Counselors support many seniors at the same time, often with several different college deadlines. Communicating early and respectfully gives your counselor time to help you and gives you time to address any potential problems.

Check Your Auburn Applicant Portal

After submitting your application, monitor your Auburn applicant portal carefully. Look for missing or incomplete items rather than assuming everything has arrived.

• Does Auburn show that my application was received?

• Has my application fee or fee waiver been processed?

• Is my transcript marked as received?

• Are my official ACT or SAT scores showing?

• Is anything else listed as missing?

Requesting an item is not the same as confirming that Auburn received it. If something is still missing, follow up with the appropriate person or testing agency immediately.

Give Yourself Time to Correct a Problem

Technology issues, processing delays and missing documents can happen. The earlier you check your application status, the more time you have to correct a problem.

The goal is not simply to finish by September 15.

The goal is to know, before September 15, that Auburn has everything required to review your application during the first Early Action round.

Take ownership of the process, communicate clearly and check your portal. A deadline is not simply the day you submit—it is the day your application file needs to be ready for review.
